Song: Til I See You
August 11, 2008
Once in a while I am stuck playing a song over and over again. The latest “repeat-1-track” is HIllsong’s “Til I See you” (from their album, Look to You). Yesterday, at our Sunday worship service at Waypoint Community Church, our praise band led us in singing this song. When I got home, I bought it on iTunes and have been playing it ever since.
Here are the lyrics:
The greatest love that anyone could ever know
That overcame the cross and grave to find my soul
And till I see you face to face
And grace amazing takes me home
I’ll trust in youWith all I am I’ll live to see your Kingdom come
And in my heart I pray you’d let your will be done
And till I see you face to face
And grace amazing takes me home
I’ll trust in youI will live to love you
I will live to bring you praise
I will live a child in awe of youYou are the voice that called the universe to be
You are the whisper my heart that speaks to me
And till I see you face to face
And grace amazing takes me home
I’ll trust in youYou alone are God of all
You alone are worthy Lord
And with all I am my soul will bless your name
The thing that hits me is the repeated phrase, “I’ll trust in you.” In the song, that line gets very little attention — no loud shouts, no crescendo, it’s almost a quiet afterthought. But that’s the hardest thing to do, to trust in God in the quietness of everyday affairs till I see Jesus face to face and grace amazing takes me home. This week’s Daily Devotion in Habakkuk 3 is an example of trusting in God no matter what: “Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines,…yet i will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior.” That’s the kind of trusting in God that I want to repeat over and over again…
Lord, You alone are God of all and I will trust in You no matter what.
