SOS @ Gracepoint Fellowship Church

August 27, 2008

Start Of School. That’s what this SOS is about. Today is the first day of school for our two kids. For it, Susanna prepared her SOS tradition: Pancakes and fruit for breakfast. I just prepared a prayer. Nine years ago, Susanna made pancakes in the shape of Mickey Mouse for Kristen when she went off to Kindergarten for the first time and since then, it has become a tradition for us. But now, our daughter doesn’t care about Mickey Mouse shaped pancakes, rather, she cares more about her hair — 1″ rollers or 2″ rollers for this special day? Those are the tough decisions one must make in 9th grade. And in 4 years, she’ll be off to college! Oh my…SOS!

At our Gracepoint Fellowship Church in Austin, some of our members are helping out with UT Koinonia’s first ever New Student Welcome Night! We responded to their SOS call and more than a dozen of our folks are there to help out. On the koinoniatexas.org website, they have an automated countdown to NSWN (right now, it is 6 hours, 28 minutes and 12 seconds before NSWN)! At our Gracepoint Berkeley church, many members are also getting ready for their NSWN as well. It’s an exciting SOS today!

I big thank you to the brothers and sisters at Waypoint who joined us for this! Their presence strengthened us and really showed the church in action as they carried out many of the core values of our church serving this past week. We especially enjoyed the skit team coming out of retirement. Now that’s called giving it their all. :)

    Hi John!
It was good seeing Manny and Sunny this past Saturday in Berkeley. I heard that you gave the Bible study last Friday and that it went well! We’re looking forward to seeing you at Gracepoint Fellowship Church – Austin’s inaugural in a few weeks. It’s exciting!

They are all okay; the hurricane passed them by. Wow, now we need to worry about hurricanes and not just earthquakes!

We’ll be visiting Austin this weekend for the inaugural service! Can’t wait to see everyone there…and to try out their famous Rudy’s BBQ!
