Gracepoint + Waypoint Church Building Fellowship

September 11, 2008

Quick Update: A dozen brothers from Gracepoint Fellowship Church and Waypoint Community Church have been building the new Sierra Barn and it has been a wonderful mix of fabulous fun and full-body fatigue (including every fiber and cellulose!). We’ve been nailing and de-nailing, making fun of each other’s attempts to drive in a straight nail, drinking gallons of Gatorade and sweating it all out, and making many memories while we build this recreation room together. In many ways, it is already a re-creation room if you know what I mean (i.e., if you know why we have a cats claw next to our hammer in our tool belts). ;)

In any case, we’ve been having lots of fun and I wanted to share some picture of the progress:

First floor walls

Following Jesus who was a carpenter with no bent nails!

9.18.08 UPDATE: Roof trusses one at a time -- this is not the time to play Jenga!

Lots of trusses for all that snow!

A very strong roof for all that snow! Raise the roof!

Roof is on -- just in time for the rain!

10.2.08 UPDATE: Roof is on -- just in time for the rain!

Nice overhang to keep the snow out of the front door!

Update 11.8.08 We went up to install the insulation!

Outside is almost weather-proof.

Wow, this is great! I cannot wait for this much-needed barn to be ready. A heartfelt thank you to all of our hard working, willing men of Gracepoint and Waypoint! (And the women who cook up a storm for them.)

After three days, we are done with 3 walls with one more to go! The MVP is Andy who is driving in many nails and driving the forklift as well! He’s truly a multi-purpose tool! I promised him a titanium hammer for his birthday when this project is completed. :)

Got word that we’re done with the 4th wall! Let me just say that the wall panels that we went with this time around has sped up the process by 100 times!

10.2.08 I just posted latest pictures of the barn! With the roof up, it is looking like a handsome barn! What color should we paint it?

10.25.08 Added a new picture. Went up there to see the progress. The metal roof is all up and ready to take on the rain and the 260 lbs of snow per square foot! Bring it on!
